I recently noticed my helmet is almost 10 years old! I assume it might be as well to invest in a new one.
What sort of money does everyone spend on this? My daughter recently bought a new bike and purchased a helmet for €85 from the bike shop. Our local DIY has a bike section with helmets for about €37, with a good rating from the equivalent of Which magazine. Is saving money on this a false economy, or doesn't this in reality make much difference to the actual amount of protection? I don't like compromising on safety, but I've got a lot of outlay on both the car and possibly bike by the end of this week, and need to be a bit careful with the cash!
I have to say when I have come off the bike, and I had a nasty altercation with two deer going fast downhill about 18 months ago, the helmet did nothing but I took masses of skin of my forearms.
