Only kidding... I have done the autum one twice and really enjoyed it, steering clear now I've ticked the box and most of the route is my usual training run area anyway. Have a good day, hope the tack dropping nimbies arent out this time!

Stuff like that yes. Last year a farmer dumped a load of manure across the road - the marshalls just routed around it and no one was effected, but I read about tacks and drawing pins on another day as well. This year the anger is still there, the dates clash with the new forest drift/round up, so its been in the local press a fair bit. Not sure what the compromise or result was, but it looks like they're both going ahead...

I think I've booked Sunday. To date I've not experienced any tacks, the technique is to be a slow fat rider, then everyone else collects them with their tyres first.

Going to book the Saturday. Need to sort out a cheap bike rack for the car though, as the OH and the dog and the camping gear will be coming with me for the weekend too.

Interesting route - no Blissford hill in that one, and looks like 40% of its not even in the new forest! Still I do like the Braggers Lane bit down the SW corner of the route - thats a good climb, as is the one up to the Fighting Cocks pub in Wood Green.
Have fun, I can see my Braggers Lane strava segment result taking a big hit in October then...

Intending on being there on the Saturday for my first sportive, only doing 44 though in a bid to get other friends along! Will still be my longest ride. Will be nice to say hello to anyone going, though you'll probably be faster than me!
