New chain slipping

I seem to get about 2500-3000 miles out of Ultegra 9spd and closer to 2000 out of Ultegra 10spd chains. However, I've never bothered to measure the lifespan exactly and my cleaning routine is basic. The 9spd is used in Winter and the 10spd in Summer.

I have an 8 speed Sun Race one on. The shimano one that was on when i got the bike lasted about 1200miles, and that was with me being less hard on the chain
