Getting faster, very slowly
I´m not sure how this happened but I´ve been persuaded, because of ´lack of space in the house´ (?) to sell two bikes and replace them with one bike.
I´ve sold my single speed commuter bike (I live in London) and my hybrid Trek (shopping & park with the kids) bike, and have had to come up with something to do both jobs.

So I´m building a bike using a Surly Cross Check frame (Pale blue) and a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub, with drop bars, mudguards and the option to add a rack. (It was EXTREMELY hard to find a suitable frame with these features with horizontal dropouts). (Here´s a linkto a kind of build blog if you´re interested).

The thing I´m having the most difficulty with now is the choice of sadle.
My very good friends at The London Cycle Workshop in Battersea are guiding me through the build (well, I´m doing about 10% of it - I´ve just laced the wheels for example, leaving them to finish them off - the hard part!) and they seem a little shocked that I´m tempted to use a Charge Stool. I bought one the other day after reading very good reviews - at only £22 it´s worth the gamble - and it is very comfortable.
Well I know it´s designed for mountain bike use, but is it really such a faux pas on a project like mine? They think I should use a Brooks B17 by the way. I´m trying to keep the costs down so not sure about the extra cost when it might not be comfy for my less than averagely padded bum.
