I'm a very big fan on trp brakes, I have used them on various types of rims and find that they perform really well, they modulate exceptionally well and inspire confidence for me.
The only way I can explain things... is that what I do on the brake lever seems to translate directly to the brakes no matter how minor, you simply feel connected.
I have other brakes which are really good in terms of stopping power such as DuraAce and eebrakes but you do not feel connected in the same way IMHO.. its a confidence thing for me.

The Venge currently runs TRP R979 EQ
Look runs R970 SL
And the R950 SL will be going on the tarmac

I can't comment on the performance of the 950 SL at the moment, but in general I think TRP brakes are well with a look, specially the 979 EQ which are great imho

Darn just Googled TRP brakes, wished I had looked before changing my 105 calipers to SRAM Force. Might take a look early next year. Since changing to 105 5700 levers to get the cable under the bar tape I cannot seem to get my brakes "feeling" right.

That is exactly what made me start looking at brakes, I never had an issue with stopping, I just lacked that feeling I wanted, I tried a number of brands and brakes and found TRP just works well for me and they get great reviews also.

Does the carbon stand up well to the road grime / muck that gets tends to get stuck at the pivot point?

I think Shimano changed the pull ratios slightly between 5600/6600 series and 5700/6700

Not got the carbons fitted to the bike yet, so could not inform you with certainty. I will do a full report once I have had them long enough to have an opinion, this thread was started simply because when I opened them them they looked awesome imho :shy: The other TRP brakes on my bikes are fine with road muck, so I do not expect these to be vastly different (fingers crossed)
Only Dura Ace I have ever had was 7900 so my references are based on my experiences with these.
