YAY! I got myself a new bike today, or rather my OH bought a new bike for me

Yes, it's from Halfords. BUT it's a bike to get me to the new year where I will be getting a drop bar road bike With the 15% off and it being half price, it was cheaper than me paying someone to service and fix my mountain bike and put road tyres on. Considering my mountain bike is stuck in gear and weighs an awful lot, I think this was a good plan

Picked it up all built and checked, got a 6 week check booked too.

Also bought myself some padded shorts, gloves and a long sleeved tee from Sports Direct to go with my lidl jacket

would like to know how you get on with your shorts as I'm looking for some and personal recommendation is always the best I think.

The ones from sports direct are only £10 so you might as well give them a shot. Not sure if you'd fancy them for an Audax but they will be more comfortable than shorts with no padding.

Just done a very quick (for me) 5 miles... wow.. it's so different! Having the choice of gears is great, and it's so light i'm up to speed in seconds instead of having to stand up and really put some effort in to get above walking pace.
