Bought my Spesh Secteur Sport just under 2 weeks ago from my LBS and have done a handful of rides so far - loving it.

One thing I noticed when I picked it up is a slight buckle on the rear wheel. Not side to side, but when you spin the wheel it bobs up and down a tiny amount (if that makes sense). We're talking about 2mm probably.

I mentioned it at the time, and my LBS said it isn't the wheel but the polished silver section on the side of the rim which isn't consistent all the way round. But I've noticed it is definitely the wheel itself.

Should I take it back and ask him to sort it? Is it the sort of thing that can be fixed with a tweak of the spokes, or should I just put up with it? It really is minor but I guess I'm a bit particular and just want it to be right, as the bike was brand new.

Advice much appreciated......thanks

I take it you are doing this with the tyre on? If you are then the tyre might be amplifying the high or low spots in your wheel so in effect the imperfection might be less than the 2mm that you suggest.
To be sure of the radial trueness of the wheel it might be best to check it with the tyre off. if it is radial trueness that can be by truing the wheel.

Another cause might be that the tyre might not be properly seated.

Radial correctness is hard to see and it might just be labels or something confusing the eye but if the rim is radial out of true it can be tweaked quite easily I think by an expert. If possible I'd get a second expert opinion and if they agree take it back to the original shop to fix it.

Thanks guys. I'm looking at the wheel, not the tyre, and it does seem slightly out. Is it likely to have any effect in day to day riding?

My bike when new had a slight buckle on the rear wheel, i never took it back.
Now that wheel is well out of true the thing has never been ridden off a curb.
My advice is take it back you paid good money for it, both wheels should be A1.

Take the wheel back - it has not be been built correctly and will have an effect on day to day riding(although not very much the cumulative effect will be quite big).

To fix you need to tighten up in the area where it pokes out and slacken off on the other side - this really needs a wheel jig to do properly with minimum fuss.

Sorry forgot to reply to this, thanks for all the help, I took it back and got the wheel sorted.

Regretfully now it looks like I need to sell the bike to raise funds (major unforeseen bills....)
