New bike or not

Hi I have been lurking arround for about 6 months now and only joined up now. I got back into cycling before Xmas and bought a Beone storm 2.0. Got a cracking deal from CRC and its a really good bike. The only problem is that the company I work for has now joined the CTW scheme. Now this got me thinking do I need to get a new bike.

The Beone has full tiagra which works well and I have started going out with my local club getting in 100 miles a week atm which will go up in the summer. I am in 2 minds to get a Deffy 1 or Allez or do I stick some decent wheels on the Beone as it's near new ?

Any help or advice please.:sad::wacko:

Where n=number of bikes you already have, the number you need is always n+1!!!!

I guess if you can afford a new bike then go for it. If I were you I would get something that is very different from the one you have now ie a MTB. You would have a full range of possible riding locations then.

I currently have a Giant XTC mtb from a couple of years ago and the Fiancee bought me a cheap bike for winter training on. That would leave me with 4 bikes but could probable sell the beone.

The other problem is that a replacement bike ie deffy1 or allez isn't that better spec'd than the one I have. If i slip some decent wheels on the beone eg Ultegera 6600's would that not be better ?

Most of my mates will say upgrade the forks, tyres and wheels - so yes quite probably. At the end of the day only you know if you can justify another bike and of course if you truely NEED one more.

ATM the bike is not holding me back but got a bit of the green eyed monster on Sunday when some of the guys had there good bikes out.

Carbon forks on it atm so I was thinking of a pair of Mavic Ksyrium's or Ultegera 6600's with soem good tyres. Any thoughts on those wheels ?

You can upgrade a bike to make you go faster, or you can upgrade it to make it look better/you feel better about it. Same applies to buying a new one - you can get a better bike to make you go faster, or you can get a better bike to make you 'cooler'. Only you can decide whether the cost is worth the gain in terms of performance or 'coolness'. If, as you state, your current bike is not holding back your performace, then the question is simply are you willing to spend £x on a bike simply to fit in with the rest of your club and get admiring glances. I suspect only you can answer that!:angry:

Don't see the point in buying another new road bike when you have only had the BeOne storm for a few short months.

That's purely my opinion of course - feel free to ignore it :wahhey:

I don't think you need to get a new bike, I think you have bike envy and want to get a new bike, but can't easily justify it :biggrin:

The BeOne is a fine bike, I have the Storm 1.0 (link in my sig) and I can't see me changing it unless it breaks in half or something.
