Is the BikeBut maintenance plan worth getting for 1 or 3 years? it seems to cover complete maintenance for the term and only have to buy parts (presume only buy parts after the 1st year?)

Anyone got one/had one - whats it like? worth it.

Also within the 1st year, if something breaks how does it go down as wear and tear or faulty? what are Halfords like in this respect?

cheers

mmm someone in another forum, says its good value...

I know it doesnt cover parts, but I was thinking of the yearly check, and then prob get free tightening/adjusting of brakes/gears etc unlimited times would you not?

Re accessories, £50 isn't a whole lot for this so you may need to add to it to get a decent lock and a helmet. Check with your insurer re lock requirements as if you buy the wrong one they won't pay out if your bike gets stolen.

Halfords this weekend (online it states anyway) have selected saracen 20% off, so the Vulcan Disc spec was £375, now £299. out of my reach now though as only getting £250 voucher and you can't add to it.

Was hoping maybe others have some money off, maybe doing this every week with a different type all the time

cheers

Just cancel the Diamondback, it's crap in comparison and get the Vulcan, much better bike, I think the fact that not long ago it was £375 should tell you that. You'll be much happier in the long run.

Didnt get chance to go tonight, and I pick up DBack tomorrow, as getting them to build it for me...looks like I missed the boat...

You haven't missed the boat, you haven't taken delivery of the Dback yet even if they are building it. Just tell them you would rather have the Vulcan as its a better specc'd and a probs much more reliable bike!! Fair enough you won't get it today but you will forever be riding the Dback and thinking that if you where a bit more patient you could've had a much better bike for your money. I personally think you would be silly to give up on the chance of a much better bike so easily. Don't listen to the Halfords salesman if he says 'but this is the bike you ordered and it cant be changed'. Just cancel the order and go to another store, you haven't signed a contract or anything.

It's no use - his mind is made up regardless of people trying to suggest other bikes on this thread.

Still... hope it all works out well with the DB.

By reading previous posts on this thread that does seem to be the case I just thought it might be worth one last attempt to redeem the situation. The chance is there for a much better bike that was previously well out of reach, it should be grasped with both hands. If the OP decides not to take this chance/advice then fair enuff.

If you go for the DB, as Sittingduck says 'hope it works out well'.

Well got my Diamondback, rode it home, and the handlebars came loose!!

I phoned the manager and said blah blah, torqued up, shouldn't have happened, sorry about it etc. I even had the pre delivery sheet which said it was tight!

Going in tomorrow to get it checked out, and to complain again

Should I ask for something, what should I say? it could have been dangerous if I was on the road, and they came loose when I was going fast for example

Ive tried tightening them, but the bolts keep coming loose so far, not sure if its a fault.

Will let you know what happens at Halfords tomorrow
