Hi, my name is Dave. I'm new to road cycling, I'm getting a bike been looking for a while now. I quite like the look of 3 bikes. What do you guys think to Moda Intro, triban 7, gt 5 series????

As far as I can tell, the Moda has the better spec is this right? Personally think the GT looks better but looks ain't everything right!

All thought appreciated.

personally, i like the moda and the spec is decent. there's soooooo many bikes to choose from in that sort of price bracket so, you've done well to bring it down to 3! moda for me

Looks are more important than you think - the better you like the looks, the more likely you are to ride it...and indeed get costly upgradeitis

Ride them, see which you like most - this is THE most important decider - if it's uncomfortable, you won't be inclined to ride it so much, regardless of how much you love the looks

Cheers, well I've been looking for ages. But having never ridden or owned a road bike I've got nothing to compare to. Looked at a boardman last week was put off by half ores service when I asked what size I would need their response was "go for the biggest you can't go wrong" thought blindly even I know that's a load of BS

Yeah some Halfords stores are decent, others are c***

Go to your local bike shop and see what they have to say. Or try Evans, they aren't great, but they have lots of choice and are agreeable on test rides

Are you sure you want to spend this much straight out never having ridden a road bike? Perhaps give the £300 Triban 3 a go, if you want to upgrade in a year, you'll get £200 of your £300 back most likely or you can keep it for bad weather etc

+1 for second hand. If you are not in a hurry, are prepared to search and search, you can end up getting a real bargain. It took me about 4 weeks of almost checking hourly before I managed to pick up a cube agree gtc in mint condition for in the end not much more then a brand new triban 3

Just be careful as there are quite a few scam artist on gumtree / preloved

I thought I was intent on a Mode Stretto until I rode it.... way too harsh

As above, try them out. You may buy something you've not yet considered. I did.
