New bike dilemma

For some time now I have planned to get a new bike, end of summer sort of time. I had my stall set out, I bought a SS Genesis day one and I was going to ride and get back to good cycling fitness(I have always trained and been fit but stopped cycling and been bike fit) then when I was regularly cycling weekly I could justify the upgrade
So I loved the SS and thought, right I'm going singlespeed all the way, and as my dad had one when he was 21 I'm going for a Condor, a Pista though not geared like his. Going to get it in the same colours he had and that's me done:okay:
Oh but then I'm thinking that a SS has its limitations and I'm not getting any younger..... Gears give more options and longer distances ????
Ok so it's a Condor Accacio.....
But then I flew up those hills today and felt a real sense of achievement doing it on a SS so let's stick with the first choice.
And then I begin to think CX and slugging around fields in winter and doing a few events^_^^_^.
Basically I'm going round in circles because I live my single speed but I ride on the sort of roads that the proper roadies go on. I love hills but know my bike and me have a limit and I won't be doing kirkstone pass or quernmore on it.
My question is, do you think a singlespeed is limited in how much climbing is possible and inevitably am I really going to need to go geared. Can the Genesis be made quick on the flats without making it impossible on the hills ?
I have been looking at the cannondales

...For the geared bikes and Condor for the SS as a Woodrup special was too expensive and uneccessary for me if I'm honest.
Appreciate people's views or input on the Singlespeed query and what its limits are for your average guy in the street and not some super human

If you live in a hilly area which I think you do then a SS bike is limiting although it does sound as though you do like the simplicity of a bike without gears. If I were you and budget allows then I would buy both, after all you only live once. Maybe look for one second hand and one new.
I've had some fantastic second hand bargains from eBay, a Facebook selling site and the post office window.

Just back from a quick 16 mile ride in 1 hour 1 min. A short steep climb from Yealand Conyers to Yealand redmayne has before beaten me but not today :boxing: flew up it and up Warton Crag road. I spin out in the flats around 24mph and have to coast down hill so inevitably I'm loosing overall time and average speed. A 16 tooth rear and then work again building up on the hills especially during winter and then a geared bike for some longer distance rides perhaps ?
