Hi,

I realise this isn't the best time of year to find these deals but thought I'd ask anyway.

i'm looking to build a new bike as cheaply as possible which will be based around an ebay chinese carbon frame and carbon wheel set. I've been pricing up the other parts and thought that if I could find a particularly good offer on a complete bike I could strip the group set and sell the frame, wheels etc... to hopefully reduce the cost below buying the groupset in full

Does anyone know of any one off, last year's model, last one in stock etc... deal that is particularly cheap? I'm checking the national chains websites but thought someone might have seen something at a LBS etc...

I'm after 105 or better, and am happy to consider SRAM and Campagnolo equivalents. My current bike has Tiagra and whilst I've had absolutely no problems with it I'd like to go up the order a bit this time.

One contender was the Revolution Continental Pro Ten which is nearly all 105 except the chainset and brakes which I could sell and replace with 105 anyway. However, I'm not sure that Revolution frames and finishing kit would get as much on ebay as Giant, Specialized etc... Ideally I'd like to spend less than the £600 as well if possible.
Also considered 2010 Boardmans but the group set is too mixed.

Size isn't really an issue as I won't be riding it but very big or small would limit my market on ebay.

I would also consider a much more expensive bike if there was a big enough discount and the frame and wheels would fetch a good sum.

It really might not be feasible doing this way compared to looking for good deals on individual components but I thought I'd at least investigate.

Thanks for any help!

Phil

I Know of a LBS who build bikes using the chineese carbon frames, i was just wondering what price u were looking at because he built mine for 1550 with SRAM rival, Falcrum Racing 7. The frame and forks weight 900g, also worth looking are ribble bike builder. I was looking at doin the same however found it to be far more expencive tool and u cant realy get a cheep enough group set to make it realy viable.

Budget is simply as little as I can manage:

Frame, Fork, Seat Clamp, Headset, BB - £370 painted and delivered
50mm Carbon Wheels - £285 delivered
Ritchey WCS Alloy Stem - £68
Ritchey WCS Alloy Bars - £64
Ritchey WCS Alloy Seatpost - £68
Prologo Saddle - £50
Tyres - £100

That's just over £1,000 already before the groupset but I hoped if I found a really fantastic deal on a bike then by selling bits it wouldn't be more than about another £300. I know there's other things missing from my list like pedals but I'd just take them off my current bike for now. Although I haven't done it before I'd try to build myself to keep the cost down. I'll have a crack at anything after watching the youtube tutorial video or reading an instruction manual!!!

Haven't got a problem with Ribble but I just fancy an unbranded bike.

Thanks! Pretty much what I was after. At XL the frame might be a little difficult to sell but it's definitely a contender.
