Ok
Im just posing a query to contributors reguarding recommendations for a new road bike
I know there is probably loads of advice and reviews about but sifting through it all is very daunting
Im in the(long) process of saving for a bike after a series of used ones which ive never been happy with so i want to invest in something new which i can choose and tailor to my liking as opposed to buying the only available second hand stuff that crops up
Im planning on spending around the 1000 pounds mark
Im looking for recommendations for bikes which are fairly racey, agile, tough but also comfortable over long distances and good climbers(ive been riding a Giant Defy which i find too sluggish and dull and i want to take the next step up from entry level stuff)
Ive seen models from Ridley,Verenti,Cannondale,Forme at around the price i want to pay but i would be very appreciative of any more selections which i can investigate further
Thanks for any advice

Cannondale caad is a popular choice. £1000 may get you a 2013 model with tiagra, perhaps 105. Perhaps go tiagra and upgrade the wheels? Although I think the 105 has better ones

What defy do you have? Not sure why sluggish? Need better wheels and tyres?

Have a look at the Orbea Aqua TTG. A good bike, with a mix of 105 and Tiagra spec, and just under your budget.

I don't think you can go wrong with Merlin, Sensa (available from Merlin Cycles) or a Ribble. Having said that, I poppped into Decathlon last week and was very impressed with their new carbon budget bikes. The SC3 road bike is a thing of beauty - £850 for full carbon and Tiagra (wheels are BTwin as are the brake calipers and tyres though). Or opt for the FC5 and get Shimano 105 and Shimano RS10 wheels for £999.
