Hi all

I'm new to the site and after a bit of advice on a road bike which I'm looking to get through the cycle to work scheme.

Been cycling around a fair bit on an old Marin trail bike that i have but am now after something a bit quicker (to balance off me getting older and slower) only problem is, I do n't know much about road bikes.

Sort of cycling to work I'll be doin is around 20 miles a day with the odd occasional 40 miles thrown in. I'm looking for a road bike thats comfortable to ride at these distances and maybe upto 100 miles. Not to bothered about an all out speed maching cause my back does ache a bit.

I was originally going to get a Bianchi C2C with Campag' gearing (supposed to be a comfortable ride) but spoke to Halford Cycle to Work people and they can't get Bianchi. So norrowed my search down to the following

1. Dolan Mythos
2. Wilier Triestina mirage
3. Colango promavera.

Any commenst, suggestions and or thoughts would be very welcome.

cheers and safe ridin

Free-wheeling into oblivion...
Shame about the Bianchi - I got the same thing from Halfords C2W team when I enquired about the Nirone Xenon a couple of weeks ago.

Don't be put off by the Boardman range, just because Halfords stock them though... the Team Carbon is winning group tests all over the place and comes in at £1k.

Might be a bit more race-oriented than tourer though.

Good luck & happy hunting.

Daniel.

Cheers for the reply amnesia, yer real peeved about the Bianchi cause thats all I wanted to get for the last 12 months, oh well.

So seems like the search is narrowing down to a Wilier, either the escape mirage or triestina mairage. Off to the dealer in Bury tommorrow night to have a look and feel - will probably come out with something else, probably more expensive, ha ha

Has anyone got any thoughts / comments on these Wilier in terms of how they ride, comfy for a daily 20 - 40 miles and upto 60 -80 at weekends? or rather that all out speedy road bike

br & safe ridin

It may be a long shot but may be worth trying halfords again.... I was researching road bikes and wanted to try a Boardman, the weasels in the Halford near me had never heard of them and said they dont exist on the halfords national stock list!

Could be that you spoke to someone that cant be arsed to check. I am sure someone on here has mentioned something about Halfords supplying them with a Bianchi.

Double check, its a sexy bike!
