I ride Saracen cross 1. Now i want to upgrade the hubs but i don't know which one will be best. I have two options either buy koozer or novatec. I want expert opinion which one will be best for me.
Also can i use those hubs in Saracen cross 1 2014 edition? i don't have idea about diameters.
Also can i use disk brake hubs in v brake?

Hi Lonewolf and welcome to the forum.

Couple of things you might want to clarify before you get any advice.
  • Why do you want to 'update' your hubs?
  • Do you mean hubs or are you actually looking at upgrading the wheels?
  • Why do you want to fit disc brake hubs to a rim brake bike? The wheels will not be as strong due to disc hubs being narrower to accommodate the disc and this reduces the spoke angles and also leads to uneven spoke tensions on disc v non disc sides.

You could use disc brake hubs but why are rim brake hubs not available where you are? Whereabouts are you?

BTW welcome to the forum.

Can't see that these wheels would be worth just 'upgrading' the hubs. The rims are bog standard and very likely the spokes will need replacing (wrong length with different hub). Are you rebuilding these yourself?

You must be living in quite a backwater country if you can't get hold of standard hubs! Also, it makes little sense that you can't get hold of the older more widely distributed standard technology compared to the more modern equivalent (disc hubs).

Are you sure its not just a case that you don't know what you are looking for? Any hub without 6 bolts or center lock system is specifically designed to be used with rim brakes, the only exception I know being coaster hub brakes.

I would leave your existing hubs on if they have not failed/worn. You won't notice much of a performance gain by 'upgrading' hubs. The only reason I would swap out hubs that haven't failed is if I wanted more durability to replace a troublesome set of hubs, or I could not longer find spares for repairs.
