Need Help Stopping my Shoes from Squeaking

I've had some Shimano MW81's since October and I've done about 2,000 miles with them, tops. For the last 1,000+ miles they have been making an increasingly loud squeaking/creaking whenever my foot moves, be it walking or pedalling. As far as I can tell this is due to the underside of the straps and the two parts of the upper rubbing against each other. I have cleaned the shoe and this only helped a small amount before going back to normal after one ride.

Is there something I can treat the synthetic leather with to stop it from sounding like an old leather jacket? The noise every time my foot moves is getting unbearable.

Cheers.

I used to get this with a pair of shoes that after getting soaked and dried out squeaked like hell untill the leather softened again and took me ages to work out it was not my bike, Luckily though they was black so a coat of shoe polish cured the problem.

My mother used to say that if shoes squeaked, they'd not been paid for?
Obviously, this is grounded in fact so is there anything you wish to unburden yourself of?

I've heard this too. I had some squeaky motorbike boots but I'd definitely paid for them so I'm not sure what happened there.

Mr Sheen !!!
They're not made of real leather but I'll give it a go, I'm sure it won't hurt them. I'm pretty handy with the old polish actually.

I saw that coming before I'd written the post!

You've lost me, are we talking about tighness? Makes no difference they squeak anyway, I'm going to try some polish today but I need to go and get some.
I meant do them up so that they're slightly apart, if that's possible.

It's not the velcro connection making the noise, it's the different parts of the upper moving against each other. The left and right sides of the upper fold over each other over the top of the foot and then the bottom of the velcro straps (not the velcro side) sit on top,the noise is from these three layers flexing and rubbing against each other whenever my foot moves in the shoe.

So, if the polish doesn't work, would it be possible to sheathe the bottom part of one (or more, if necessary/possible)of the straps in plastic or something similar to prevent the parts actually rubbing directly against each other?

Yes, it should be but I can't see an easy way of doing it so I'm leaving this as a last resort as I'd have to make sure the ventilation vents weren't affected and fins a way of making it last.
