I have both Nalini and Altura, although not the exact items in question, in my wardrobe.

If it was my £40 I'd be spending it with Nalini: both the Altura items I have are flawed, where as the Nalini kit is fantastic. The hem of the Altura jersey came unstitched on its second wearing and the reflectives of the race cape have all peeled off.

I bought bib shorts from Schutt for that price and am very happy with them. They've gone up a little in price now, but if you sign-up for their Clubroom, you get 10% off.

Jimmy, whats the sizing like on Nalini in your opinion? The suggestions on the Planet X site are a wee bit confusing.

Or maybe these?

Just want something decent quality for the summer that have a very good pad. I like dhb, and have the pace roubaix bib longs, but I wonder if the material would be too thick for the summer as its designed for colder days. And the pace Aeron seem to have a thinner pad.

I'd like bibs as they don't ride down!

Thoughts?

I have both the Pace Roubaix longs, and the Aeron Pro shorts, and the pad on the Aeron's is better quality. A lot better, in fact.

Have a look at this guide, it is a bit more informative: it quotes heights for bibs, which is the important thing.

Generally, I find that Nalini doesn't come up as small as, for example, Campagnolo.

I'll also take this opportunity to plug Discount Cycle Wear (with whom I have no affiliation or interest): I bought my Nalini bibs from them and Ian tried them on for size before I bought them. Always worth a call as not everything is on the website.

That size chart agrees with the email I got from Planet X. They suggested a large instead of XL too

Hm XXL for me as I thought. Might go for the nalini. Schutt just won't be big enough for 6ft 5!

My XL SHutts work well and very comfy. 6'4" and 17st. Tree trunk legs. (Legs not much good for stamina but great fro getting round roundabouts)

+1 for Shutt. I'm 6'4" and the XL are good for me - am pretty sure thats my size without checking the label. Contact them to check - they are very good at sorting what will work for you.

Interestingly I think the pad in the Pro Bib shorts is supplied by Eschler who supply some reasonably well known company...Assos I think they are called.
