Thinking of getting a Norco CX bike and wondered what others use for winter training!!!

I want something with more robust tyres (700x35c) with grip, still road bikeish (drop bars), not too heavy, that I can use for winter and that I don't mind getting farked up too much with the salt and grime of winter riding. My carbon roadie will go into hibernation for winter. Being able to use it off road would also be a benefit.

Seems a CX bike would fit the bill........any other suggestions?

If I was in your shoes and could afford it, a CX bike would be the way as it doubles up on a winter machine but also could be a tourer (if it has the bosses etc).

Genesis Croix de Fer or Vapuor. A little pricey, but superb

I use the Croix de Fer all year round, rack and guards fitted. Comfortable steel frame, disc brakes. The vapour is lighter aluminium and the 2012 also has discs.

Oh..and they are a british company...of surprisingly good quality
