took the very old bar tape off

it has/had a self-adhesive glue strip down the middle - so left with this

tried everything
GT85, JIF, 100% acetone .............no luck

HELP
White spirit, Scotchbrite (or similar) pad, plenty of elbow grease then Solvol to finish. Love those suicide levers and high end brakes got similar on my Raleigh Equipe (well Superequipe really as its the red & white version)
 
+1 for paint thinners, but only do it outside or you might get.......

but i've read/had so many comments to................ ''get them OFF''

i'll give them a wrap with some cheap tape and try for a few weeks

Try some sticky stuff remover.....You can get it on Amazon. Maplin does sticky label remover too.

Although I rarely use the "suicide lever" portion I couldn't take them off as nothing screams retro more than them, unless you count the SCS/Bluemells guards cloth bartape and the Brooks B5N saddle:whistle:
