Stripped my cheapy Carrera Kraken (15 years old) with the idea of possibly a nice matt repaint (instead of Orange) with some normal forks.
Everything off apart from the cranks BB and the headset bits that I think are fused to the frame.

I did bikes up in my teens and used to get the headset bits off with a screwdriver and hammer - any better ideas folks?

Also - picture of the crankset....

Not got the tool for this nut - what shall I buy folks? I used to use a socket set when I had one many years ago (sorry - dad had one that I used) - I dont really need a full socket set.

Will wait until I see the BB until I look to see if I need a tool for that.

cheers folks

You'll need a suitable narrow walled socket to remove the bolt and then a crank extractor like this extractor
