I intended no blame. As I said we didn't really know the facts.Under those circumstances [as I also said] well done for avoiding him. The basic point however still holds good, too many cyclists forget they are both silent and speedy and unlike a car [even a truly electric car, which still aint as quiet as a bike] they size up small in the greater picture. No one intends to run out infront of a moving vehicle [excluding the loonys here] it happens because they "forget" , "don't see" or "don't hear" it. You were doing the right things, covering the brakes etc and guess what - it worked, but there are sadly those that don't, they often "get away with it", just, but that doesn't make it ok.
PS - Before anyone say cars often drive too fast, that is quite irrelevant, after all just because one person breaks the law doesn't make it ok.
