A whole shedload of sad comments on what could easily have been a very serious incident. Wet road, agressive team car driver (they all are but this is beyond reason), and for a few seconds he is ready to risk seriously harming someone. Good bit of driving by the moto to hold it up. The driver should have his team manager licence suspended, and a big fine. You only need to recall the Hoogerland/Flecha versus stupid press driver incident to understand the consequences. But this time with about 400kg of moto and people. Ther's no need for this sort of thing to happen, in the end it's only a bike race! I wonder what the idiot is like around the riders, getting through a peloton, etc. Not great. I just hope the moto had a few words post-race, preferably crash hat to nose.

So I guess the team really, really wanted to get up ahead to support a rider with a mechanical or something.

Of course it's a disgrace. In Scotland it would be an assault, and the driver would be facing jail time. He should be sacked by his team. is there any standardised sanction for incidents like this? 2 year ban would be about right.
