No, of course I knew. The point I was making was that I didn't realise there was an actual defined speed of the slow moving vehicle. I always thought it was loosely defined as "slow moving".

The hidden point I was also making was that how often I have been overtaken in such circumstances when on my bike - when certainly going faster than 10mph! If I accosted the driver, and pointed out they really shouldn't have carried out that manouvere because it was contrary to the Highway Code, I think in 99.9% of cases I would get a blank unknowing stare.

i was taught that one of the good reasons for riding out of the gutter was that it forced drivers over the white line. in their ignorance they are often thinking "can't cross the line" and will try and squeeze past you without crossing it, but if you ride out from the kerb far enough to force the offside wheels of their cars to cross the line, they no longer give a shite about not being able to cross it and are more likely to overtake you on the other side.
