Hey Pete...I saw you! I was with the school children in front of the church.
I was right on the right hand bend about 100 yards down from the church. I'm surprised you saw me under the waterproofs!

I don't think mixed would work, the men will be quicker.

I don't see why they cannot run them at the same time. Roads are already closed, cameras in place etc. If they need to, run each stage a little shorter, have the women start from a different point along the route and set them off before the men. That way the men won't catch up to the back of the womens race and the spectators have two top class races coming through for the price of one

I think the spectators, sponsors and TV would love it, surely there must be a way of making it work.

It sounds like a nice idea until you start to work out the logistics. Then it's not. Just double everything is a huge challenge, and a women's race ahead of a men's will always be seen as a "warm up for the big show". So no, the racing is good enough to stand on it's own merit at top level, as the recent success of Women's Tour has shown. UCI regulations would currently get in the way of a three week GT for women, not to say it could never be done, but it's a long way from 5 days at a max of 500km to three weeks and a couple of thousand.
