There's a lot of roadworks around my way recently so just inspecting the handiwork now that this piece of road has re-opened . So they've taken away a hawthorn hedge (bad in a way), widened the road and put in a footpath (good, as this links a housing estate with town and it was dangerous for pedestrians due to idiot drivers) but why didn't they move the telegraph pole whilst they were at it?

Maybe they wanted to give motorists a taste of what cyclists have to put up with on cycle paths...

It is a good deterrent to pavement driving while saving the cost of moving the pole, and if a car hits the pole the electric company have to deal with it, so a win-win for the council.
