Would activating the walk mode help with that? It instantly powers the bike up to 2.5mph, only difference would be I'd be sitting on it.

SOunds like it would

can;t try it as the walk mode on my Bosch powered Raleigh is useless
it starts OK then stops then starts then stops

manual says to use it in high gear but that doesn;t help and in this case it would mean you had to change gear to get into a decent gear for starting to pedal

What is the difference between them, would one suita fairly heavy recumbent trike better than the others?

Yes, you will require a custom bottom bracket welding in. I've seen outlets selling said bracket for M620. Which has 1500W /160Nm

These motors pack a hefty punch in power and torque. You will never lack for power on any hill. They give great range for the power.

This type is attached via the bottom bracket so is handy solution to mounting on the boom without any custom metal work. Although some custom wiring with probably been needed.

If you're wanting a torque sensing bottom bracket motor which fits standard 68mm crank.

Consider a Tongscheng TSDZ2. The standard one is cheap, but a custom firmware vastly improves functionality adding higher voltage batteries, smoother acceleration and adjustable power programming

I converted my trike with a Bafang BBS02B kit last year. Before installing the kit I'd already purchased a reprograming cable and app and once the Bafang kit was fully installed and working I programmed the software to nine assistance levels and programmed the assistance and other settings to that recommended by several Youtube channels. Assistance and motor have worked perfectly for well over 1,000 miles now.

Good news is that with the aid of my chums old laptop I got into the motor setup and was able to make the changes, [not that simple as I got messages saying that his firewall was preventing the application opening].. Test ride showed it was now working just the way I expected, left it on level 1 [which is set to 20% power] and used a lot of the 27 gears.
