Spoken to Spesh. Forks can vary as made by third parties apparently. Can't complain - should have looked at the pic and realised! No attachment points for front panniers either, which would have been an option.
So, my question is, what now? Is there a mudguard set like the SKS raceblades that is wide enough for cross tyres and doesn't need eyelets? Or will I have to go down the route suggested by Cyberknight and Potsy?
