Anyone who doesn't cycle thinks it's impossible to go further than 5 miles on a bike, and doesn't understand why you would want to try.

If you're the only cyclist in your workplace then your nickname will automatically become "Lance" or something similar. Likewise when out and about in town wearing full cycling gear you will overhear comments from passers by the include the words "Lance Armstrong"

Don't feel the need to turn the big gears when your knee caps are about to pop off....

I wish I'd been told that years before I was.

I wish I'd believed it the first twenty times I was told it.

When commuting to work and riding easy in normal clothes you wont be able to resist going after the roadie that has just passed you, and end up working the first half hour of your shift damp.

When you leave home/work and it looks like it could rain always pack your waterproof where you can reach it easily, you can guarantee if you pack it away where its difficult to reach it will rain, if you leave it easily to hand it wont.

Element - I think your list is fantastastic

my one would be

- stuff wears out. Brake blocks, chains, cassettes, chainrings, wheel rims. And when it does wear out it costs more than you expect to replace
