My God, the price of everything going up!

In our village club it's £2.60 for Carlesberg and £3.25 for IPA from a local craft brewery.

Back int day it were 28p a pint & 5p fur a packet o warkers crisps, you cud git 3 o each fur 99p

Frankly that’s cheap around here.
Other than Wetherspoons and I’ll gladly pay a couple of quid more a pint not to drink in one

3x 5 = 15
84 + 15 = 99

I'll be honest it may well have been 27 & 6 but still 99, the beer in the best room was 1p more, but that made it over £1 for all of it.

We are a long way from hard-up but nonetheless, along with ourselves we are noticing that more and more people that we know who are worth a few bob are turning away from goods and services that do not represent good vfm or are patently a blatant rip-off; or at least our friendship circle talks about such things more often.

I think this paragraph sums up where we are. We would, I suppose, be described as "comfortable" but having been brought up very poor we do not like to feel we are being "taken to the cleaners"

I think my mother's words "learn the value of money" still rings in my ears!
