I'm thinking of buying a foot pump. Yes, I have a track pump, but it's about 12 years old and hasn't been used for three years. If I carried that in my car and had to use it, it might bust while pumping vigorously. These things don't last forever, as they say. Auto Express say the Michelin 12209 is the best pump to buy.

Halfords sell it as I post, for £22.40

I'm quite surprised at the price of foot pumps! I haven't bought one for decades. Car accessories aren't known for being cheap, but most foot pumps aren't much over £20. I would've thought before looking them up, that they'd be about £45 to £50 these days.

Got no sympathy for the BMW owner.
I carry a pump that plugs into your cigarette lighter but less and less car's are fitted with cigarette lighter plugs these days so another reason not to buy a new car

Given the difficulty you had balancing and pumping the one you borrowed, you’d be better off with one of these for £25:

You can set the pressure you want and it will shut off when it reaches that.

Since you said earlier that you struggle to use a foot pump, would it not be a good investment to get a pump that works by plugging into your car's cigarette lighter? By the sounds of things, they aren't much more expensive than a foot pump.

Although my car is 11 years old it doesn't have a cigarette lighter thingy. There is something you can plug things into near the gear lever. I'll have a look when I go out later to see what it is. 🤔
