My clipless pedals haven't even arrived yet, but earlier today I still narrowly avoid a moment!
Not sure how I managed it, but I was stopped at a right turn light waiting to go and when I set off, somehow completely missed the saddle and then lost my balance and my foot slipped off the pedal almost toppling me, managed to recover, but I'm now even more worried about using the clipless pedals when they arrive!

My first clipless moment was before I had the pedals. SPD shoes wouldn't get out from the toeclips when a car behaved sillyly at a roundabout at the top of hill. Low speed, low velocity, and not a lot of people present. Mind, the young lad I was riding with probably now thinks I make a habit of falling off.

I have had 2 recently, 1 involving a loose dog and a pile of nettles and 1 at the start of a Charity ride in front of 500 people........

I thought a clipless moment had to be a full face plant ?
Is there a guide to the stages of clipless moments ?

It's like copping off with someone:
1st base: getting wobbly
2nd base: falling over when it's quiet (i.e. no traffic)
3rd base: falling over in front of family
4th base: falling over at a busy junction surrounded by pedestrians and motorists.

5th base: falling over at a busy junction in front of someone with a dashcam who then uploads It to youtube.

I'm a newbie to clips and I find very "beginner clipper" isn't as bad as "I think I'm ok now clipper" approaching very slow moving traffic the other night whilst commuting I slowed right down and thought "no need to un clip here I'll try and do a track start...lol, nope, the sheer panic when I felt myself starting to go...

I shouldn't worry about using your clipless peddles.
Once you've fitted them, find a nice quiet bit of road and practice clipping in and out until you get the hang of it.
The objective is to get to a point where it becomes automatic.
Doesn't take long.
Enjoy your new peddles.
