nice

look forward now to worrying about your saddle height, position, handlebars etc etc in the thought that you should be going faster/easier

Thanks folks. Appreciate the support. Allready playing with positioning and tyre pressures. I'll never be as good as some of you ("Oh just popped out before breakfast and knocked off a quick 50 miler") that's me just being jealous! but I'll keep persisting with it...

May I jump I in,? Knocked out my first 20 miler today, MTB with XC tyres, training shoes, what a sight I must have looked. Got passed by 2 roadies, who slowed down to say Hello before gliding past off into the distance. With about 2 miles to go a lady on a hybrid left me standing despite going down hill flat out. Next time lady, next time......

Great day.

Oh yes you will!

....and you will start to coordinate your lycra colours with your bike.

....did I say bike? I meant bikes

....and you will discover the real use of sudocream.

....and you will not have a beer so your ready to set off at first light.

....and you will eat porridge out of choice.

....and you will wonder if you can get your resting heart rate down as low as Lance's

....and you will spend more time fiddling with you bikes than fiddling with your girlfriend

....and you will be happy:biggrin:

Thanks you guys (and gals). I was half expecting a few gaffaws from my pitiful performance but I must say you lot really are helping me keep motivated.
I'm afraid the commute has had to take a back seat at the moment for no other reason as five o'clock starts and fouteen hour days as a bus engineer (BIG nuts and bolts!) have left me totally shattered at the end of the day but I'm determined I will be out again on the bike next weekend. Please bear with me.
I think I'm allready starting to become a biker. I wish I'd got the energy to go out right now and I've allready stared buying bits and pieces for the bike (just turned clipless and really felt the difference). with all of you giving people like myself guidance and motivation; I know I will get there..

Following on from me starting this thread, clocked up a full 15 mile run in Friday mid day traffic today. Absolutely delighted with myself, i feel as if i can go out anytime now.

It was a bit chilly however so i think i will be looking for some sort of cycling trousers. Really happy, going out on Sunday for another ride, really happy.

Congratulations Mate. It's a great buzz when you achieve a goal isn't it.

Try looking in Aldi for trousers. They are doing padded ones for £9.99.
