I bought a BSO of ebay as a cheap/disposable town bike.

It's got 'Falcon Indexed System' gears and the rear mech sounds like a ratchet when I'm pedalling. Do they normally sound like this?

Also, does anybody know if 'Falcon Indexed System' gears use a casette or a screw-on freewheel? The bike is a Havoc Sabre by the way.

I think you might need to re-index your gears.

Sorry but not even Google turns up any specification information. +1 for re-indexing.

The easy answer to the freewheel block/cassette question is the number of sprockets. 5 or 6 is definitely a thread on block, 8+ is definitely a cassette, 7 could be either but as it's a cheap bike, I would expect it to thread on.

RE: "I would expect it to thread on."

Thanks - If I can't get the gears sorted out I'll buy a cheap BMX freewheel and run it around as a single-speed.
