Well... I wasn't on my bike at the time, but as we were near Hathersage pinfold, it'd be rude not to get a pic 😊

Sunday morning bike ride around the Isle of Axholme yielding copious Pinfolds.

An interesting assortment of shapes, majority of Pinfolds - Pounds are rectangular or circular and some like these fit the space available. Good to know that heritage is alive and kicking in Lincs even if the walls have been lowered and the internal space used as seating, parish notices and /or gardens.

A bit overwhelmed by "stuff" but a circular brick pinfold survives by the village shop.

Slogged up the hill from Manningtree to Mistley to find this pound which was rebuilt in 2012 by the parish council. The bike is there you just can't see it 😁

From the top - Hougham, a fine example of the type.
Middle - Marston, original frontage with an easy maintenance rear fence and animal additions.
Bottom - Gelston, original shape, now used as a rest area to chew the fat.

Littlethorpe pinfold South of Ripon and Staveley circular pinfold north of Knaresborough.
Pinfold and Pound are interchangeable names. The map will say one thing and the local sign will say the other.

The well preserved pinfold at Heckington, Lincs. 25' sq with a garden seat inside but the gate has been fixed shut.

Clifford Chambers, Warks. Pound and a good interpretation board along with the merest hint of golden green Shand Stooshie.

Ilmington, Warks. The village pound stood here and is recorded as such by a small plaque.
