Ouch. I broke my collar bone back in March. If I can offer you one bit of advice - don't get back on the bike too soon.
I did and ended up prolonging my recovery. I felt fine at the start of the ride but my shoulder was sore at the end and even now, 8 months later I still get the odd twinge.
Good luck with your recovery and take things easy

Wow! Sounds like you were very fortunate. Too much speed scares me . I have a habit of looking down at my garmin to see how fast I'm going, gradient etc. Think I'll try not to in future. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sounds horrendous. I'd keep up spreading the word about wearing a lid. I have to admit agreeing with Wiggo on this, love em or hate em, if they save one life, they must be a good thing? I'd agree with Gary about not over doing things. I broke my collar bone about 11 years ago, took me three months to mend and was still achy some 6 months or so after that if I exerted myself too much so let nature do it's job & GWS.

Got my bike back today garmin says I hit the wall at roughly 35mph won't be rushing to get back on the bike . Bike needa new rear rim as the impact cracked the rim the rest should be fixable just need a new helmet and cycling clothes as they got cut off me .

I rang 999 but soon somebody else turned up and took over ambulance , car ambulance and air ambulance turned up. Puts things in a different perspective when you could of really hurt myself in very lucky

Sorry this will sound like an inappropriate comment, but 150yrds and to only brake from 39mph to 35mph? That doesn’t sound right to me, but please enlighten……..

I was on the same road last weekend, I was doing 25 to 30 mph (ish) I was trying to better a strava segment on that downhill road, (I'm in 7th place) but I slowed down abit as it was damp on the road, so I knew the tyre grip would not be 100% (glad I did now after reading about your accident.

From 150 yards away it just looks like a sweeping bend

Then when you get closer

Sorry to read about your mishap mate, we have all at sometime pushed it a bit much and some have been lucky to have the chance to shudder about it later, usually lying awake in bed about 2 o'clock in the morning!
Hope you recover well and mend soon. You know you'll get all the encouragement you need from us lot on here.
GWS.
