Hello guys and girls

Today out on the bike was going 39moh when I looked down at my garmin on a steep decent near me I had only ridden it once and thought it was a straight down as I then looked up I saw a turn about 150yrds infront hit the brake became apparent I wasn't going to make it hit a wall at a good 30moh (will confirm when I get my bike back tommorow) I have broke my shoulder blade but my helmet I believe has saved my life has a huge crack in it and I believe without it the impact would of killed me now I don't want this to become a helmet debate but it helped me today

It was all my own fault for being stupid and going to fast will now be off the bike for a good 2-3 months

There but the grace, have probably been a lot of us. Myself included. Easily done, to be distracted. Hope you're not out for too long. Keep posting us your progress. But most of all GWS .

Wow, I hope you have a speedy recovery with minimal pain..I am sure that had to hurt. I know I was up to 36 mph today going down a small hill in my neighborhood called "tickle hill" because if you hit it fast enough it seems like you can feel it pulling g's. Felt like i was flying when I did that, would have hated to come off going that fast.

GWS, glad you're relatively ok, could have ended up worse.

A mountain biker was killed in exactly that way a few years ago near Darwen Tower, near Blackburn. His mate got back to the car park, waited, then went back to find the bloke dead in a field.

Ouch! Glad you are 'only' walking wounded and wish you a speedy recovery. Presumably you won't be up for my planned new years day ride to Holmfirth/Holme Moss?

Where did this happen? Is it a quiet road and did you call for assistance yourself or were other people soon on the scene.

Ouch - and get well soon. That could have been much worse.

What ride? Whilst I'd not join you from Manchester, coming from the other side might be an idea.

Not finalised yet, just want to sort out a Glossop cafe stop for the return leg and it's ready to go live. I have checked with Compo's on the drop into Holmfirth and they are open from midday so fish and chips dinner then some cake and coffee in Glossop on the way back to M/cr centre. Watch the informal rides section in the next week or so......

Shouldn't really be taunting Craven this way in his own thread
