Uncle Phil said:Scottish bagpipes aren't a musical instrument, so they don't count.
Fab Foodie said:C'mon guys, the Alto and Tenor Saxophones are great instruments, full of Soul, suitable for Jazz, Blues, Soul, Rock, Gospel, 50's Rock 'n roll, Latin-American, Funk, hell even marching bands... a wide repetoire, it's dynamic and has a range of timbres. It's even relatively easy to play and a great instrument for beginners to start to make their own music.
I agree Kenny G is shoot, but that doesn't make the Sax a bad instrument
Currently I'm learning to play this:

I'm gonna go practice now...
Andy in Sig said:Jazz without saxophones would be like Italian cooking without garlic or tomatoes: inconceivable and probably best left untouched ... BUT (that's a big but notice) squeaky is right out, hence soprano saxes should be bent on sight let alone on hearing. You might be able to get away with your alto sax because that's the one that's even lower than a tenor isn't it?

much is kack, but on Lou Reed's Perfect Dayor Sting's Englisman in New Yorkit does it's job pretty well.

Banjo music always reminds me of THIS.Smokin Joe said:To appreciate the banjo listen to The Byrds, The Dubliners, The Pogues or many of the other bands who showed how good it could sound.
