Good morning from a bright and sunny Suffolk. Coffee and a couple of dark chocolate digestive biscuits have already been had.

Looks like an expensive morning ahead to add to what I've already spent this month. One of the bands I've seen a few times are having a short farewell tour and tickets go on sale in about 90 minutes. There's nowhere nearby so it means another away day - in Leeds in December on a Friday = ££££.

Once that's been sorted I'm off on the bike up to Norwich for 🍽️ and 🍺

Your ability to plan ahead is impressive. Equally so your ability to figure out how to save money on trains. Neither figure in my skills set.

Nor so much planning as being on mailing lists and having budget hotels saved as favourites to quickly check prices. A spreadsheet is needed to keep track of what I'm doing though.
As for trains, I've got to know most of the routes and potential alternatives so stick the journey into Trainline to give an idea of price. One trip to Sheffield later on should cost me around £27 going via Doncaster instead of around £40 on the obvious route via Nottingham. It will also be more comfortable with part use of LNER' Azumas.

A while ago, I wanted to catch a train from Northampton to Berkhamstead so I could ride back..
It was cheaper to buy a single ticket to London, Euston, on a train that passed through there than a single ticket to Berkhamstead and not complete the journey.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Popped out to clear my head from lack of sleep looking after SWMBO and took the Giant FCR I picked up on Monday.

First thoughts: this isn't a hybrid bike! It shifts, probably because the top gear is 52 x 12.

I can also see why Giant struggled to sell it: there's probably only a very small market for flat-bar road bikes. The tyres are very cracked, so no big downhills, but there doesn't seem to be clearance for anything beyond 28mm there. It's therefore not a hybrid. And it's not a road bike, nor useful for anything off-roady-.
