Re run of last Sunday; washing out, bread made and ebiked to Asda, except this time to dispose of those old cycling shoes in an adjacent recycling area. On the return came carefully down humps and a hill and I think the chain came off on Thursday at the last speed hump as the road surface seems to have sunken immediately beyond it.

Realised I should have picked up some bananas. Getting off the ebike in town um... wheres the Varia? Bananas acquired and back home to find no sign of it
Route retraced without success and a further fruitless search at home. Will it appear unexpectedly. It had started to annoy me going flat far too quickly so maybe a chunk of the £175 premium bonds for April is now accounted for.

If there's one thing I've learned about Decathlon, is that their sizing is both rubbish and not consistent across any of their product ranges. The only way to check if something fits is to try it on.

That said, once you've worked out which of their sizes actually fits, their products are actually really good.

taken back with no issues . im also beginning to wonder if i need a narrower saddle as no matter what shorts i try i am never 100% comfy as it feels like the saddle edge could do with being a bit narrower so im not catching the edge with groin edge .currently on charge spoons

I cleaned my mountain bike this morning and fitted new brake blocks and tweaked the loose headset that irritated me last weekend in Connemara.

Forty mile ride completed in the afternoon. Very sunny but still not very warm. I think my face is a bit sunburnt.

Now time for some live music. They've re-upholstered the seats since I was last here. They must know someone who works in the bus depot as the material used is similar to what you usually find in buses.

It's been a lovely warm and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well and had a lie in. Just as well, as I had a moment of insight relating to the next chapter of my novel while I was in the bath last night, and so I then spent some time putting those thoughts into words so that I wouldn't forget. Which reminds, must get to The Works at some point and buy a new hardback notebook.

Had a lazy morning. OK, did a load of laundry. Then listened to the F1 "as live" on BBC Sounds while eating my traditional "motorsport on tv / radio) luncheon of a cheese toastie - this one with cooked chicken, thinly sliced onion, sweetcorn and BBQ sauce added.

That actually took up a good chunk of the early afternoon as well. After, I put on some proper clobber and popped round to a friend to drop off some of the Mexican-style chicken that I cooked. I hope she'll enjoy that, she said how lovely the soup and quiche were that I gave her the other day. She's been stupid-sh*t busy of late, and if I can make her life a bit easier, then why not.

While I was there, I had kitty cuddles and doggy cuddles, and treats were dispensed from the handbag.

Had a quiet evening listening to the Manchester derby on the radio.

Just had a lovely (and slightly random) supper of the last of the lettuce & nettle soup, a jacket potato topped with the Mexican chicken, cheese & soured cream, plus some freshly-made onion bhajis* on the side.

* I had some batter left over from yesterday, and it was too much and too nice to want to bin. And the onions needed using anyway, so a win-win here as I adore onion bhajis. :hungry:

Time to do the old "tin foil on the stairs" thing and check, maybe?

After yet another red flag I gave up and came home early this afternoon - what promised to be a good day's racing disrupted by more incidents than I think I've seen in one day. Also, thanks to the wind, it was bloody cold despite the sunshine due to to the lack of any shelter.

Non-recycling bin emptying on Monday. I've lifted the lid on mine and it passed the sniff test so can wait another couple of weeks as there's not much in there.
