It got sucked into some machinery at home that we were working on. The consultant re-built it from the salvageable pieces and it's doing OK but I'm only just back on the bike outdoors.

Nasty. My mate lost one finger at top knuckle and the other at the nail. Apparently the knuckle wouldn't have been viable but the nail bit had a chance. He sent pics of the finger tips in a bowl to us.

Bit of sun but otherwise dull all day. Typical work day of stupid IT and 2+2 making 5 on too many cases. Relieved by a Co-op trek at lunchtime along with hauling a heavy garden waste wheelie bin to the end of drive for its first emptying of the year tomorrow.
And somewhere someone was pile driving

First working day of the week completed. There had been updates on some of our systems over the weekend, so naturally nothing worked properly this morning!

We had a wet start but it dried up into a nice afternoon.

My dance class has been cancelled as the instructor isn't feeling well. I should probably go for a ride but I have a lot of things to catch up on.

I've decided to take a break from looking at news as I'm sick of seeing the great orange one all over the place.

Ouch!

It's the dexterity I'm having issues with. It should just look like a slightly wonky finger when it's all healed but there's scar tissue over the point I'd pick things up / hold a pen so I've got some exercises to do on top of everything else I have to do each day (cream / movement / etc.). But I do still have a finger - which I asked them to try and save rather than removing it below the top knuckle.

Yet more rail tickets secured - return to Leeds* in June for £27 via Trainline as they're not yet available from LNER/GA, but the price was too good to wait for general sale. The silly thing is that a return to Peterborough is half the trip and costs £25!

*Don't worry Yorkshire types, I'm only changing trains and then heading to Manchester.

That'll be platform 6 to platform 10b, possibly 13 then.

I did pop out this afternoon to have a word with the solar people about my missing paperwork - they're still waiting on one certificate (MCS document) to be returned and then I'll be able to switch to a better electricity tariff and not see all those valuable electrons being sent to the grid for free. A couple of bottles of lemonade were also picked up while I was out. Another warm in the sunshine day, but quite chilly in the shade with a bit of a breeze.

Sausages, new potatoes & peas for tea.

It's been another sunny and spring-like day here chez Casa Reynard after a foggy and frosty start.

Did not sleep well as a) I wasn't quite warm enough during the night and b) my brain wouldn't switch off. Reason being, I'd spent much of the evening working on my novel, partly on the current chapter, and partly planning the next. The next chapter is centred around another flashback and involves a character we haven't seen before. Even though their actions have consequences throughout the story we only see this person the once, so I need to make sure I get the personality etc right. The character is based on a real and rather obnoxious circuit owner, so I will have some fun with this, I think.

Still, I had a chores-y morning, sorting firewood, spending some time in the kitchen, sweeping the path, that kind of stuff.

Had a lovely luncheon of sourdough toast, marinated anchovies, mozzarella, fruit and a :cuppa:

After, popped out to do some erranding. Dropped off the parental's prescription at the quack, then off to town. Swung by the butcher and picked up some ox heart and pigs liver. Then went to have a sniff around Waitrose, where I had some good luck on the yellow stickers. Picked up Cornish Blue cheese, venison mince, pork belly, cod and salmon. After, it was off to Tesco for kitchen roll, bog roll, laundry soap and antibac wipes, me having used up most of my supply in last week's cleaning efforts. Picked up a kilo of cheddar and three packs of HCB on YS in there too.

I shall be splitting my YS haul with a friend, and will be making pate with the liver.

Cullen skink, then turkey, ham & leek pie, mash and steamed spring greens for supper.
