32 miles completed on my newly serviced Raleigh single speed. Sorting the headset made a huge difference. Rides like a dream now. Sadly the engine isn't as easily upgraded!

The forecasted rain never came.

The problem with many cars of the same colour is trying to find yours in a big car park. Many years ago a couple of work colleagues and I went to Milton Keynes Bowl to see Guns'N'Roses and sensibly noted down the car park code letter & location of where the driver had parked his car. Walking back afterwards I'll always remember the anguished shout of someone else looking for their car of "Just how bl**dy many red Ford Escorts are there?"
Not as many as you might think...

Yes, they have a large selection on shelves. The very helpful lady who knows what she is talking about, said that people can try the mowers. I thought I would need to work out what I am looking for, before going to the showroom.

I have tried the G Tech one and that is lightweight. G Tech HQ is in Worcestershire, but I think they are entirely made in the far east.

Since narrowing it down to the two Husqvana, I have found out that Haytor is a British manufacturer.

Haytor are good machines used them a lot as do the trade. For years they held a Royal Warrant to the Queen they’ve either stoped using or are applying for new one.

Edit Looks like they still hold a Warrant.

My VW van is white. It's a non-ongoing restoration project these days but I used it daily for many years. I never minded to colour to be honest. Yes, it shows dirt but I found white a pretty forgiving colour in other respects. It suits someone like me who doesn't wash or polish very often as it always cleans up very well.

Also, if you are like me and hold on to things way past their best before date, it's easier to hide any minor rust repairs in white i think. I've always found it much harder to touch up the paint on a dark coloured car and have it match.

I think white needs contrast to look well. It works on my VW because of the black bumpers and wheelarch trims. It can look terrible (IMO) on some modern cars with body coloured bumpers as it's just too much white.

I found there are a surprising number of versions of "white" and getting the right one can be a problem. I am with you on the rust spotting tho.

Friends were at a Trade Show in Birmingham in February. During the day it snowed and covered all the cars. This was before the days of remote control so the only way was to wipe the number plates of likely looking vehicles.
