I spoke to a Radio 2 researcher from the Simon Mayo program on Mrs ID's mobile which she had left behind when she went to work today.

She said who she was then she said 'Is Jane alright now?' I said 'Well, she has never been before... why do you ask?'
Apparently they do a feature on the show called 'three word Wednesday', succinctly summing up any incidents in your day and Mrs ID had texted in on Tuesday night 'Bitten by Bat' and before they read it out they wanted to ensure Mrs ID had survived after the trauma (She had). I thought that was very nice of them.

Unfortunately because I couldn't let her know and she didn't know they were going to use it Mrs ID hadn't listened to the show on her drive home.

I heard them read it out! Quite intriguing? So, yes, the nation are very glad she's alright. Simon Mayo wondered if she would have had a rabies/tetanus jab?

She will be pleased to hear that... she quizzed me about what this woman said to me about 3 times. Yes, medical advice and actions were taken.
I just said that she's mental but that's what she was like before the bite anyway. I have a feeling I'll be ordered to iPlayer Radio it now...

What is this word commute of which you are speaking?

You know, I really miss my days of travelling into London, standing on a cold station platform, gazing at the aircraft in the stack. Then in the evenings, struggling through the tourists to peer at the departure board trying to see which platform to go to for the train that leaves in five minutttttteeeeesss. And of course the total helpfulness of the railway staff who all seem to disappear when there is a problem

Yes, I miss it.

Did I mention my fellow commuters?

Well, I'm glad someone did...
I didn't know what the heck it was all about until Mrs ID got home at about 6pm, didn't know she'd texted it in before the phone call from them. Tuned in after I recounted my tale (not normally a Radio 2 man myself unfortunately) and heard nothing, so we assume it was one of the earlier ones.

During my last bike ride I was struck on the head by a falling horse chestnut, which shattered on impact with my cycle helmet..... Not quite dramatic enough for the great helmet debate thread, but possibly worth mentioning as, by my recollection of the rules of conkers, this now makes me officially a "1er". I'm off to go and pickle my head now. (Gotta stay ahead of the game).

"It just looked like the lights from a housing estate, so I came to bed instead of waking you" my OH famous last words. "It was not what I was expecting for the northern lights".

His description of the sky to the north of here (given to me this morning) as he was coming to bed.

NO and there's no bloody housing estate there either. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I've only wanted to see them all my life and last night was ideal time and place and my back was up to it!:cry::cry:

PS we are currently in the middle of nowhere in Scotland. Almost as far from civilisation as you can get on mainland Scotland....

Do you do Twitter? I follow a couple of people who report Northern lights sightings.... I don't know why because I will never see them this far south, but the photos are brilliant and one time I might be at the right place at the right time! Slightly more reliable than husbands;)

No I don't twitter or Facebook and yes I've seen the pictures this morning hence why I'm a little more than miffed. How could he not recognise them for what it was? Lights in the sky in the north? He knew there was a chance because he saw the same news report as me. In fact if he had not been watching the weather forecast (an obsession of his) I wouldn't have known at all!
