It's been tropical in Aston - U - Lyne today.

While I was there I saw something that I haven't seen in ages, a guy sat in a car smoking a pipe.

Is that rare? I've never seen one in the wild.
Not that common really but have been seen in the Southern parts of the country over the last few years. He was mainly sleeping today, well out of range of my lens but his distinguishing bill was certainly visible on occasion through my binos as he looked up to check everything was still alright... :okay:

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
We have many twitchers and indeed a bird observatory in Sandwich Bay. I quite often chat to the twichers i see on my rides through the Bay about their latest sighting as my avian knowledge is rather lacking. However they are saying that they are seeing more and more exotic bird life appearing on our shores. A few weeks ago they were chasing across the golf courses after one of these.

We've apparently had them down here recently too, I saw a good few in France earlier in the year.
I went to Topsham today because there were Osprey sightings over the Exe estuary as it's on their southwards migration route this time of year. Didn't see one myself today unfortunately but they were around this morning. I caught sight of the Grey Phalarope that has been bobbing around here for a bit, that's fairly rare too, 200ish seen in UK per year.
