My OH had just completed his first 100 mile bike ride. The last 8 miles were all downhill and apparently the quickest!

Awesome!! :cheers::bravo::bicycle:
He was a little miffed last year in when my cycling buddy helped me complete mine because I had done it and he hadn't, so the opportunity arose for him to continue to 100 miles as part of helping out on the charity bike ride. I calculated that provided he rode the 5 miles to the bike ride start yesterday morning all he had to do was ride from the top of Pen-y-Pass back to Betws-Coed to get to 100 miles and given he had cycled to the top of the pass there was no way he wasn't going to cycle back down it, 100 miles or charity ride alike, I know my husband too well. Plus we had to drive back through there anyway... I think he enjoyed that bit more than anything else!

How did your protégé get on? Did she finish?
She tried to quit after a climb had her walking it, but Stuart wouldn't let her. After that she made it to the top of the penultimate climb and had the option of climbing the last bit up to Penn-y-Pass or heading down to the campsite and getting the same miles in. Because Snowdon was in cloud and it was quite late in the day by then plus mountain rescue were visibly out on the mountain etc she chose the later. The challenge had included climbing Snowdon after the ride which tbh, I never thought she could do. So she did the distance of 88 miles but not quite to the planned end. So yes and no, but yes it's the predominant answer, she did do it. Hope that makes sense!

Mrs S has been in Dublin on a girly weekend with friends from Glasgow. She's just rung me from Dublin airport where she is waiting for her flight home, and she can barely speak, poor lass!
Think I'll have to put a couple of plastic bags in the car when I go to pick her up, in case she wants to introduce me to Cardinal Chunder. :wub:
