I'm now worrying about tomorrow... I'm going to try mountain biking.... What should I wear, am I going to fall off, it wasn't helped by one them posting a video, I'm hoping it's going to be nice and easy!
You've got to go to the pub either mid or post ride, that's mtb law.

My new bedtime reading.
It's in aim of the last cycling new year resolution that I've not tackled yet, namely,
. To learn to fettle.

Have a great time!
Keep your arms relaxed. One of the things that contributed to my sore elbow was holding my arms tense on the brakes, going downhill over stones. (It was already a bit sore but I was ignoring it.)

Have a great time @summerdays , it will be fun and something different to say you have tried.

Post ride is the plan For the pub!

Still feeling nervous, and mentioned I was worried to Mr Summerdays, and he didn't help as he said he was worried I was going to fall off too!! Radio isn't helping as its going on about A&E!
last time I did a mtb course I did fall off. Got back on 30 minutes later after the concussion had subsided a touch and I was back with the land of the living. Cold compress and a hot sweet coffee helped as well. I had smashed my helmet to smithereens literally... and had to use a my woolly hat instead, a rather large bump on my head stopped me from wearing a helmet at all... 4 days later I found out that I had probably broken/cracked 3 ribs and spent the next 6 weeks taking strong painkiller to suspress a cough which had resulted from a chest infection as a result of the broken ribs

Still I really enjoyed the course, so don't let me falling off dent your ability to enjoy yours... :giggle:

Have a good day and enjoy the :sun:.

Ouch @SatNavSaysStraightOn I've always thought off road MtB to be more dangerous than road riding although there are some MtB routes which are seriously more dangerous while others are perfectly fine. Friend of mine said he didn't ride road cos it was so terrifyingly dangerous. He then came back from an MtB outing in the Alps with some pals. Over 5 days they called out the rescue helicopter twice and an ambulance once. So choose your routes according to your skills is my lesson for the day.

I was on a mtb skills course, so pushing my boundaries. I also didn't actually fall doing anything other than trying to stop my bike on snow/sleet on grass! rather embarrassing really. Had I have fallen off whilst doing a jump or something like that I would have been quite 'happy' about it, but actually just coming off the bike after I had nailed the jump and was simply stopping the bike was a trifle embarrassing really.

I'm hoping that @summerdays left the house before you lot started with your horror stories! (Though I'll never forget patching up someone's leg that was sliced to the bone just below the knee when she lost her nerve at the start of a bumpy descent, and put a foot down to stop instead of pushing on or hitting the brakes and stopping properly.
