I can understand @The Velvet Curtain wanting one, he has been going on for ages about trying to find a left handed one, playing chords is all about trying to teach your hand to have 'muscle memory, so that you don't have to think 'now where do my fingers go'
Plenty of 'how to' vids on t'internet like this one

I know it is going to take a good bit of dedication to get anywhere but I look forward to learning a new skill and gaining an understanding of music.

I've been trying for years to play guitar, still not much good although I have been 'conned' into playing in front of people a couple of times (with the 'Tiger' John Blues Band)
Thing is with a decent instrument they will always be worth what you paid for them, my Telecaster will always be worth a grand, all you need to do is keep it in a decent condition and restring it once in a while (they do wear out but a new set is only about £6-7)
One of these days I'd love to be able to play as well as this guy (playing the same model/colour as mine but maybe not)

Not a 'flashy' player at all but still one of my favourite players, with a red 'Tele' in his hand.
