Sold my Alfa Romeo last night... now I've got to decide what to replace it with

Please enrol yourself on a basic cycle maintenance class as soon as possible. This should make it possible for you to get a can of lube (and give you the chance to start many threads about which one to choose) squirt it on your chain and jockey wheels and to undo and then raise, or indeed lower, your saddle height or angle yourself. This will give you so much self esteem that you will need to treat yourself with money you've saved very often indeed. And go for rides instead of going down the LBS to pick up your bike again.
Ian,

I use the LBS because they turn the bike around very quickly, and because I have a naff shoulder, it's easier for them to sort than me (I'll do most things to avoid more pain). Plus it's still under warranty.
Knew I had to buy lube anyway, so bought basic oil and some white lightening, so that'll keep me going.

The saddle angle I tried to sort on Friday night, and no matter what I did, I couldn't undo the bolt, so gave up. They did it and the chain all while I was gassing.

Just had a quick check and I'll be informing the site that put it up, that they got it wrong!
Plus the book will be wrong as well.
I couldn't be bothered to figure out whether it was 8 or 9 years but the positions of the date change one by one in 365 day years and stay the same in leap years). Off the top of my head: if there were no leap year it would be a 7-year cycle, most often there will be 2 leap years inserted into that cycle, making it 9 years. But I reckon that a few 8 year cycles would sneak in.

Right, so it advances 2 days in a leap year but one in the rest. I'll be coherent come night time. I'm now off to Nikwax an old saddle.
