George the man up the street.Has showed me some shoes tonight.I was telling him about my Doc Marten episode,anyway he showed me his demob shoes from 1955.What a fantastic pair of shoes.Made in ENGLAND all leather with a whacking heavy duty sole.They are superb.

I loved Docs when they were made in England. Chinese ones do not measure up.

In the US, at least in 1945, you got nothing upon demob, just a pin to wear in your uniform lapel so the police or shore patrol did not arrest you for being AWOL. My father was still using his tropical sun helmet in the 1960's. Mainly to paint the house.
