At 3.30 yesterday afternoon a man in his 60s, who doesn't live on our street, drove to the end, parked across the hammerhead, got out, opened the tailgate of his grey Renault Laguna estate, took out a set of bagpipes and proceeded to play them standing to attention dressed in full kilt, sporran, long socks and brogues.

He played beautifully for ten minutes while people came out of the houses to see what was going on. Stopped put the bagpipes away and drove off without anyone having the chance to speak to him. Nobody knew who he was and we haven't seen him since....

I cleared my gutters out this afternoon, having borrowed a set of decent ladders from a friend.

I just saw another cafe employee without basic mathematical skills . I ordered a coffee and muffin, total cost $7.20, and paid with $10 note plus $2.20 in change, so that I could get a $5 note in change and thus make my wallet a bit lighter. The cafe employee looked at the $12.20 and had no idea what to do with it!

The neighbours are having a row
First time we've heard them, except for when we chatted over the garden fence.
Go on then, you know you can't leave it at that.

What were they saying?

My wife and her mam would have discussed every last detail by now.

I couldn't make out individual words. Just a lot of yelling and bashing about. It was either a barney or a very loud bit of DIY.
Unlike the last flat, this one is fairly soundproof. I can hear the kids in the bedrooms above, not all the time, only when one of them is throwing a strop and stomping about like a fairy elephant.
