Why worry if its metric, as long as it fits what you want to tighten/undo it will be good. ;)

Not quite. If it's a loose fit it will round the head of the bolt in no time. You want a correct size Allan key in good condition.

just been out to check and all of you were right and the bike is indeed metric, just my dad doesnt have that many metric allan keys - we like old cars - and a 7/32 substitutes a 4 or 5 mm (i cant remember ) quite well.

please forgive my ignorance.

so which metric multitool is the best for about 15 quid or less

Topeak Hummer/Hexus:
  • 16 tools fold into engineering grade plastic body
  • 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8mm allen keys
  • cross and flat head screwdrivers
  • Torx 25 bit for disc brakes
  • chain hook
  • universal chain tool
  • spoke wrenches for 14 and 15g
  • sides of body clip off to become tyre levers
£15 from wiggle or CRC or as has been posted earlier try ebay.

Make sure you don't use the tyre levers on it though. They break quite easily. Get some Somas!

I like separate tyre levers in any case, personally. Mine are a set I got from the LBS for a quid, not sure who makes them but they're great, easily strong enough to stand up to taking off Contis...
